You tried to tell me good-bye today
It scared the shit out of me.
You tried to tell me you'd die today
And leave me, alone to be.
I tried to tell you I'd cry today
You hurt the hell out of me.
I tried to tell you I love you today
And all you said was, "we'll see."
You tried to tell me your fears today
It made me feel like I wanted to flee.
You tried to tell me your dreams today
And it made you seem more like me.
I tried to tell you my pain today
You turned it back on me.
I tried to tell you I'll stay today
And you told me to let you be.
