Lost on the wind

breathe and relax.

A warm Caribbean breeze blows in
with the soft scent of coconuts.
I've buried my delighted toes
in caressing sands of misplaced time.

My mind wanders and tiptoes aimlessly,
unwilling to settle on any single sunbeam
of ambulant thought.

I find myself not so suddenly
lost on the wind -
an indefinite furlough.

I pause; I breathe; I smile.
