No Restrictions A slap in the face.
For every
Curse I've uttered,
Travesty I've committed,
Life I've taken,
Love I've stolen,
Body I've broken,
Heart I've tossed aside.
A slap in the face.
For every
Unrepentant action,
Glorified blasphemy,
And every betrayal.
Like a child spitting in his father's face,
Face red with rage,
Mouth twisted in something
Ugly
Hateful
Human.
For all you are,
And for all I'm not,
Things sure don't work out the way they're supposed to.
With a grateful heart I minimize you,
De-capitalizing the y and the g and the j and the c.
Tell me this:
What's it like to be sacrificed daily?
Spread eagle on an altar to some new concoction;
What blade shall we use today?
The list is too long.
So some days we make it slow,
Lasting,
Savoring.
The smell of your blood as it spills,
Lapping it up greedily,
Snorting and rooting as we dig through your blood for the secret to Us.
That's really all there is,
Right?
Us.
Your story is a pipe-dream.
Welcome to Reality.
And so we slap
Your face,
You back,
Your legs,
Your reach.
And so we slap
Every effort,
Every invitation,
Every demonstration.
And I lead the pack.
A slap in the face.
From an ungrateful child;
From a jaded teen;
And a long-lost adult.
Please don't let me do this.
Stay my hand.
Make me
Grateful.
Make me.
Stop.
