This poem is one of my favorites I have written. |
| I am not shaken by your untimely arrival. You have come here before with the failing light and I have seen the shadows on your heels. Still yet, I embrace you. Tell me of your travels and show me a world I could never comprehend. You have seen it all. I am no more than an average boy, soaked in sweat from the work of my hands. But you, a noble man, have no time to speak about things of that nature. Traveler take me away in a story, I am sure your tongue could charm a mighty ruler and crumble city walls. I ask that you take me down that road, the one your feet know so well. For when you are gone and the lemon beams of the new sky wake me, all I will have is imagery. Traveler you leave me again with borrowed kisses on my lips. I need not look to see that my bed is empty and creased. You must be on your way. |
