My mother, my hero

I wrote this three years ago while my mom battled brain cancer.

Mom

I'm so glad I had this chance
To be here by your side.

Watching you,
Seeing such strength,
Fills me up with pride.

You always gave so much
Never asked much in return

That love...
The greatest gift you gave,
The greatest lesson learned.

Some days will come
Where my heart will ache
To have you here with me

But I'll know
Deep in my soul
That near you'll always be.
