If Fall is all I have

This poem is one of a few that I call a "beautiful basic".

If Fall is all I have
Then I will fall in love with you
If time is of the essence
Then that is what I shall do
If breath shall be so bittersweet
and the sun should strip the dew
If Fall is all I have
I will fall in love with you
Tell me that I will see the spring
And with it skies of blue
So I may take comfort in your lies
And fall in love with you
Maybe when the moon is high and I laugh so I feel new
Perhaps a thing as neat as love can keep me from twilight's hue
Then not even in another life will I regret
That I have fallen in love with you
