You were more then a friend at the start
You were my lover
For what seemed to be a life time
You taught me that it was ok to trust
That it was ok to love and
That I could be loved just as much in return
You showed me that I deserve more
Then it came time for us to stop being lovers
It was hard on both of us
You showed it
As for me I held it inside
You told me even though we were not
Lovers any more you would be there
That tore me up inside
Yet I still did not show it
You are an ex lover turned friend
The best that I could say that I have
You opened my eyes to the world
That more then anyone
