simply by the way she lived

Living on

Simple was the way she lived
those many years ago
yet life for her had meaning
so many never know.

Many times she told us kids
no matter where the road
the travel is made better
when two take up the load.

To know to do and never
was looked upon as sin
and can't was just a battle
no one would ever win.

Never in a million years
would we have ever thought
such wisdom could be found
in simple things she taught.

Simple was the way she lived
and simple did she die
but we never will forget
no matter how we try.
