The Whisper

Inspired by war

I heard him whisper softly
it was close, yet nowhere near
The sound came with urgency
in my mind, it was so clear

He gave to me a message
that I knew to be sad
he told me of the passage
of a strong, young lad

So brave he was
fighting for liberty
and he died because
he wanted to be free
