Remembrance of Flight-1991

I wrote this at age 11 for my cat who was at my side when I was sick.

You were always there for
    Me like my own
        Knight in shining
            Armor;
                It
            Seemed as
        Though you
    Took you duties
  As if it were an
Honor.
    You were always there
      For me when
          The cards
            Were
          Down and
        When I saw
    You I couldn't ever
Frown.
    When I thought I couldn't
      Last another day in
          This place you   
            Came along
                With
            A smile
          On your
        Face.  You were there
      For me.
On your last days with
    Me, I made promises to you
      You, and I would be
          Apart for the longest
            Time.  The day
                You left I
            Thought I'd
          Die without
      You
          But as I close
            My eyes I see
                You like a picture
                  Burned deep into
                      My brown eyes
                  Expecting to open them
                And see you I cry
            Out in disappointment
        For your not there
    There at
      My
          Side;
            Your dead
                But the one thing that will
            Always remain alive
                Is you gave
            Me my
          Wings and taught me to
      To fly.
          You gave me
            Flight don't ever
                Forget.  I'll always
                  Be thankful with
                      One regret
                  I'm alive
                Somewhat happy
            And here; While you
          Are dead, and gone
      Forever
