An impromptu poem I wrote for my brother the day our beloved yellow Lab. passed away. |
| Eager to please, selfless, and true Brought a smile when all seemed blue. Couldn't love enough when someone was near Especially when scratched right under the ear. 'Survival of the fittest", a true earned right, From litters of pups' to Rattlesnake bite. This life's only certainty: the faceless robed thief, Took meaning from matter, like a sword from a sheath. What remains, is too powerful to be taken, A feeling misplaced, but never forsaken. Even on this day of passing, through grievous shed of tear, We still beg for laughter, and one more scratch under the ear. |
