Life as a bad concert

The concert has gone on much too long for your liking
and it wasn’t remarkable to begin with.

Holding out to the end is an option.
You suppose something good could come along
         but at the moment it would very much surprise you.

People occupy your row on either side.

If would be so easy just to head off
         if it weren’t for them.
You are willing to give up the chance of hearing more music
         but them?
They keep their chance.

You would disturb
    disrupt
destroy
      it, them.

You hold out for them.

They better appreciate it.

              But they don’t even know.
