The voice I never listened too

When the voice of reason is right next to us but we still refuse to listen

I'm so ashamed to say it,
Never wanting to see,
That you were always here,
You never gave up,
Being a light,
Within my shame,
You never looked at my reflection,
Always looking at me,
Showing me want I never thought,
I could be,
Should be and one day,
The person would be,
You were never ashamed to say,
So I would never fear,
