a poem about a woman's unseen pain. |
| A woman takes off darting one way It’s the wrong way She stops, she knows it’s not the Direction she ought to have gone How can she ever be assured Why is every passage she chooses so foggy Stop thinking lady, Stop making all those damn excuses It’s raining in her mind Turbulence making her thoughts whip around She can’t find her dreams Salt from her eyes have washed them away There is a storm going on Behind those eyes no one can see strangers fall for the smile and musings on her superficial shell Few ever recognize all the facets That aren’t projected Her own dark shadows follow her She tries camouflage to hide But no one can hide from shadows She cries, hands on her face No one notices the anguish Of The lady crying on the steps out of everyone’s view Even though she is surrounded She knows upset better than ease Accustomed to anger more than delight She’s not as beautiful within Only blissful on the façade tenderness of the spirit isn’t alluring |
