Poem I wrote for a workshop at College |
| Sonnet of the Camel What is this animal looking at me, that can go on for miles without drinking, or go through a sandstorm without blinking? This animal is a strange sight to see, slowly walking with no care in the world, observing the land with its long-lashed eyes. It calls to its kind with soft-bleated sighs while lying down, with legs carefully curled. Seen in a zoo, or its native desert this animal amazes me the same. It doesn’t matter if it is wild or tame, it always seems to be on the alert. What is this magnificent humped mammal? Obviously, it must be a camel. |
