Sometimes I Whisper

Sometimes I whisper
in order to keep
the sound of my voice
from waking your sleep.

Sometimes I whisper
a word in your ear,
telling you, darling,
you've nothing to fear.

Sometimes I whisper
my prayers in the night
and ask the dear Lord
for strength in the fight.

Sometimes I whisper
though I want to yell.
All this frustration
is making life hell.

Sometimes I whisper
your name in a prayer,
recalling the times
that we used to share.

Sometimes I whisper
your name in my pain.
My heart cannot wait
'til we meet again.
