Bones

Please make a sound.
Your body feels too heavy in my arms.
It shouldn’t have to be this way.

Stifled tears won’t help any;
Only seeing your face will take it all away.
Why can’t I scream out?

These bones won’t move.
Why do you feel heavier than before?
Or is it only my heart?

Nothing can replace what’s missing.
The tears will never stop.
I know I shouldn’t act this way.

I will never forget you.
Nor will I ever forget the day
You left me.
