Secret hope

This is a poem I wrote after my crush and best friend got a girlfriend.... :(

As I walk beside you
And listen to your voice,
I smile inside
Knowing that I have you,
to share some time and words,
I listen as you speak of her,
In the sweetest ways,
Secretly Wishing I would be daring enough to say "I love you."
I hope one day you'll speak of me that way,
But as I listen to you say her name
With honey on your lips,
I know that you will never be mine,
So I sit back,
And be the friend I've always been,
Sharing thoughts and patiently waiting,
I could never give this up,
Because being with you keeps me sane,
Yet I'll always secretly hope that i'll have the courage to say
That I'm in love,
Forever and always,
With only you.
