Poem I wrote shortly after my Grandmother passed away. Based on a dream I had. |
| Sweet Dreams In my dreams you talk to me Through my mind you’re back in this place I can feel you just inches away Even though I can’t see you face to face I remember the good times And all the fun we had Those days are over now But I will not be sad For when you visit me In the dead of night You tell me not to worry That you’re doing all right Reunited with loved ones No more pain and suffering Youthfulness and happiness Are yours for the taking As dawn draws near You lean in close and smile Whisper in my ear ‘I’ll be back in a while’ With a kiss on my cheek And a warm loving embrace Hand in hand with Grandpa you fade away Into the light of your final resting place And when I awake knowing you’re fine My heart is at ease For I will always love you Nana God bless you and rest in peace Dedicated to Helen Habenicht, The best grandmother a person could have. |
