Birthday

This was written many years ago when pain and anger ruled my life

She lies alone on the bed
Eyes closed with arms
Crossed over her chest
Hands clutching hands
Clutching shoulders
Trying valiantly to
Shut out the noise.
Inside her head a
Kaleidoscope spins.
Desperately she
Summons a scream,
But none escapes.
Then here a sigh.
She rolls over on
Her side as a single
Tear slides slowly
Down her face.
