I am [the] fly inside of a Bottle

Not wanting to be something or someone for someone else.

as if I were some caged animal:
controlled,
denied access to the true self;

must I dance like a strutting chicken?
Must I be the scared little boy I once was?
Must I conform to everyone's way of thinking?

Must I be a drone?
Must I be in a box or a bottle?
What if I explored every cavern that you are afraid to spelunk?

Must I explain my change in religion?
Must I be cloaked in the same fabric as you?
Why must you insist that I be like you?

Why must you buzz around the top of my bottle
when I long to leave and fly away.
