| Who cares about Frost, Eliot, or Pound? Why not Sid Vicious, Kid Rock, or Eminem? Are poems supposed to be weighty and meaningful to be beautiful? Why can't they just please the masses? And who really cares about Frost, Eliot, or Pound? I doubt that Mark, Tom, and Travis will win high praise from poets-- fart jokes and adolescent antics aren't that poetic; but they'll always mean more to me Than Frost, Eliot, or Pound. I don't want to hear a poem about the woods or any trees or any rot about subway faces or the sanctity of quiet places and I don't want to hear anything by Frost, Eliot, or Pound. |
