Sweatervest

A brief look at the sweatervest.

A sweatervest.
A simple garment
Knit from wool,
Sometimes mashed
Together with polyester.
So incredibly awkward,
Unable to stand alone.
Only useful as an accessory
To be combined with shirts
Or jackets
Or other accessories.
The mainstay clothing
Of preppy uniforms,
And old men,
Evoking images
Of golf, grandparents,
Loafers made of brown leather,
And merry chuckles
With flushed cheeks.
Yes, when I am old,
I think I'll wear
A sweatervest.
