Just want to know what life has in store for me

I want to know what street I'm on,
so I can know
which way to travel next.
I don't want to pick
the left, a dead end,
if there's more to the right.

I want to know what chapter I'm in,
so I can know
what page to turn next.
I don't want to think
the story has ended,
if it's still yet to begin.

I want to know where I stand,
so I can know
where to put my foot down next.
I don't want to fall,
at least not too far,
at least not too fast.
