A questioning of what causes change

Someone throws a stone into a lake
Yet no ripples come of it
The lake remains as still as glass
Someone stands beside them
And cast a stone of there own
It skips along to the other shore
The riples are many thay reach out far
But soon the lake is still ounce more
The lake is now forever changed
By which stone has this tranformation came
