This is a poem about a young girl who has her first purim. |
| One Great Purim It is morning and I'm as happy as I can be, for I do think it is a day for you and me. Mommy walks in through my open brown door, she says,"Well, what are you waiting for?" With excitement, I jump out of my bed, in the closet is a shiny crown for my head. My sister Malky comes in with a smile on her face, in her hands is a white gown trimmed nicely with lace. I walk to the mirror and look at what I see, a pretty girl appears and out the door I flee. Mommy and sis take me to the neighborhood shul, where talking is now allowed, that's a rule. During megilla reading, I make sure to be quiet, a prize in the store, mommy will buy it. To neighbors I bring baskets of food, and I see their faces shine in a joyous mood. Mommy gives me a tzedakah penny, to do more mitzvos, there is plenty. Come and join me for the purim meal, a table full of food, how great we all feel. At night, mommy tucks me under my cover, tomorrow a big day, it is another. |
