Remembering, Only To Forget

May we NEVER forget.

...how sad! We've forgotten: each passing
anniversary, we've drawn farther
and farther apart, until you are
only a faded photograph in
the mind, a memory dimmed over
time, a listed name read one day a
year: w e ' v e aged, yet you remain the same
as the last time we saw each other:
that's the real tragedy in all this:
remembering, only to forget.
