A Question of Charity


The uber-rich and famous
are in my hometown this week
For the Naples Winter Wine Festival,
rare vintages they seek.

Emeril Lagasse's here,
and Martha Stewart, too.
There's wine expert Robert Parker,
it's really quite a do!

They raise tons of money
for children's charities it's told.
But, I have a niggling question,
if I might be so bold?

Do you folks need the gourmet dinners,
the glitzy auctioned trips,
The Cheval Blancs, Chateau Latours?
Hey, you guys are in the chips!

Don't think I'm being facetious,
or trying to be funny.
Why not simply write a check,
and give away the money?
