If you could see what I have seen

If You Could See

Take a moment catch your
breath and look around
Look up into the sky or way
down low on the ground
People even children living on
our streets
Some of them walking around
in bare feet
Lonely and cold, nowhere to go,
nowhere to sleep
Begging for spare change so they
can at least eat
They do what they can each day
to stay alive
Beg, borrow and yes even steal just
to survive
It's not a pretty picture it's not what
you want to see
It could have been you or it could have
been me
