Little Sister

A poem I wrote for my sister

you came along nearly overnight
stealing away my one spotlight
you shared my bedroom, shared my toys
shared my secrets, shared my joys
you noticed every step I turn
some you followed, some you spurned
all of a sudden, look at us now
all grown up and still somehow
I look at you and still I see
the little sister you'll always be
