My dad says I have a "middle-child complex." Little does he know...

And as they watched the oldest
  spread her wings and fly
They never saw the middle
  laying down to cry.
To the youngest child-
  "The apple of our eye" she quothe
Never considering the middle
  just may outshine them both.
