We Part Tonight

A poem to my best friend

We part tonight
A sad affair
For once we were good friends
But now you say I must move on
You’ve changed and so have I
I don’t believe that’s true at all
I don’t need to wonder why.
I know you loved me
I know it was hard
Hearing about “My Girl”
I loved you too, and well
I still do
You’re forever in my heart
My bestest friend in life and now
Soon to become the past.
You’ve moved on and well
I suppose I’ll have to try
But an amazing friend
One such as you were,
Is really hard to forget
You say I must
But I refuse
My life? You were a big part
How could I ever forget
The amazing relationship we shared
The trials and troubles
The joy and happiness
It all was great to bear
Because I had a friend like you
Who loved me
And was always there.
