Homage to Ezra Pound

"To break the pentameter, that," you said, "was the first
Heave." And who could say that you were wrong
To plead with poets to return to song,
Abandon plodding, metronomic verse,
And chant the sequence of the musical phrase?
To me, however, lured by curious ways,
Pentameter sets a challenge still unmet;
So, I shall break it, too -- but not just yet.
