Time More Precious

Positive & negative, two separate sides
Building a marriage with both unified
Above us, below us, in life & in love
Raising our children a cut above

Guiding their growth, yet letting them learn
Giving them room to make their mistakes
Instilling ability to somehow discern
The right, from wrong, decisions to make

Once their foundation has been set in place
You’ll see in them proof of what’s begun
Don’t set them so high they feel out of place
Nurture their personal needs, each one

Be mindful of differences, one to another
Correction must be fair, loving & wise
Be watchful but always take care not to smother
Teach them compassion & compromise

And when they hit the teenage phase
Take heart & allow breathing space
Maturity will soon clear the haze
Permitting a natural change of pace

Enjoy each child as long as you can
In no time they’ll take off and fly
Never will there be time, more precious than
These years that will soon draw nigh
