Where do you draw the line?

So tell me
honestly
do you think I'll ever
be as good
as you

maybe if I practice everyday
and read your notebooks
or drink your coffee
and smoke myself
into a poetic stupor
every night

or maybe if I
go to your school
listen to your music
wear your clothes
and your rings

then maybe I
can write like you

or maybe
I'll just be
a fake.
