an essay about legal blindness |
the leaves are changing color and if I could see them I would see the leaves dressed in their fall finery of bright reds, golds and oranges falling like well placed area rugs placed on a carpet of green grass. I would see the bright colors of the perennials in Moms flower garden. I could see what is a weed and what is a flower. I could see the bright colors of the sweaters and hoodies that I love to wear. I could see if my socks matched . I could see regular size print on the computer screen or in a book or magazine. I wouldn’t need the thick ugly magnifying glasses that I must wear to make out even large print. I could see who was calling my name and waving at me from across the room. I could see the intricate stitches of the needlework projects that I used to do. I could see who or what was coming up beside me with out having to turn my head to look dirclty at them I could see the world I live in For 2 1/2 years now my view of the world has been reduced to a small grey area no nore then 10 feet in front of me . I have optic neuritis which is part of the MS that I have. |
