5of16 of a poem series I wrote in the perspective of a friend who committed suicide |
| O Guiding Light, in my eternal darkness, why do you flee from me? For I am unlike the hunters who wish only to take from you your most precious treasure, but I only seek to feel the warmth of your presence. For it is that fading light that gives me purpose to live on so that I may become worthy one day of the light that envelops your being. I hope I do become worthy of you for greatly I fear that without your presence I would lose myself to the darkness. I seek you not as a prize but as a blessing for which I yearn to gain and would do anything to obtain. |
