Be a child while you still can

For all the kids wanting to be grown up, long before they should be

BE A CHILD WHILE YOU STILL CAN...

I remember them saying,
“Be a child while you still can,”
And remember thinking,
“But I want to be grown up, like them...”

I haven’t even reached it,
Haven’t left my school bench,
But understand the struggles:
Unemployment, debt...
Finally understand the constant smiles
I see on adults’ faces,
Realize for the very first time.
They’re not meant for me,
But for all the little ones,
Thinking life’s a game
Waiting anxiously,
Pretending (like I use to)
To be grown up like them...
