This is a sonnet about a friend who began dragging me into his darker side. |
| Not his heartbreaks, nor his sorrows Can move me from my standing place, He had pushed away all of our tomorrows While I tried help him move past his disgrace. I watched him sit and wait for Hades, The god whom I most despise, I imagined him with his soulless crusades As the tears were falling from my eyes. You drove me to the doors of Hell, I teetered on the edge, It nearly swallowed me like a whale Until I stepped back from the ledge. I narrowly avoided Jonah’s fate, As you cursed me with your lies and hate. |
