Send me an angel who will sit by my side
Who will lessen the pain that is felt inside
One who will view me with empathy and heartfelt concern
An angel who knows me and will tell me where to turn

Send me an angel who will make the pain subside
One that will assure me I’ve no reason to hide
From the pent-up emotions felt in my heart,
And give me a reason to make a new start

Send me an angel who will sweep me away
From a past where I once was led astray
However you view it, I do not want to dangle
I’m pleading with God to send me an angel
