Just This Side of Heaven

Just this side of heaven.
United in memories made,
Singing in the morning sun.
Tasting the nectar, sweet in embrace

Taking the time to savor the time,
hearing everything.
Instantly connected by an invisible thread.
Sanctuaries: one in the same.

Seduction played a role
in bringing us to the point of fusion.
Decades have passed
enabling us freedom, bound to each other.

Open the tomes and read the lines,
forging ever ahead.

Hopeful dreams lead to tomorrow.
Energy not wasted on yesterdays’ sorrows.
Allowing us to grow strong and steady,
veering away from the devil’s charms.
Entertaining thoughts of eternity to see us through.
Never taking for granted the touch of love’s warm breath.
