What is a True Friend?

I was hurt by a close friend, this in turn made me feel like I was a bad friend.

i tried to be there
i tried to care
i considered you a great friend to me
the best friend a friend could be
but i guess i was'nt good enough
maybe they were just more tough
but it was'nt for the lack of heart
i tried to talk, and do my part
but apparently they are more man than i
and now i have to leave, so i'll just say good bye
but if your ever down or feel alone
i would never reject a call on the phone
it breaks my heart to know
i let you down and was'nt around
i'm sorry i was'nt a better friend to you
someone you could trust and turn to
my only regret is that i could not do more
to help you along when you felt sore
my only hope is that you find what you are looking for
