A poem about a failed attempt to never hurt by having nothing to lose. |
| On quiet nights when all is still, I may begin to think and muse, On a place and time far in the past, Where I had everything to lose, I ran long and far from all my pain, But the race to escape I always lose, There’s a place and time far in my past, Where I had everything to lose, My shadow is my only friend, He’s the only one I ever knew, Who could hide me from the place and time, Where I had everything to lose, I’m hiding from the sun and light, It’s my old pain I try to eschew, But there’s a place and time far in my past, Where I had everything to lose, But what I tried so hard to chain, Cannot be bound, it’s always loose, Calling from the place and time, Where I had everything to lose, Like a whirlwind, it all comes back There was darkness there, but joy too, I was happy in the place and time, Where I had everything to lose, Somebody save me, help me, tell me… Is there anything that I can do, To take me back to a place and time, Where I had something left to lose. |
