My Soldier


Some people ask me if I know what I am getting into
When I tell them I have fallen in love with you
They say a soldier you will always be
Forever putting your job ahead of me

To those people I smile and say
If that is the way you feel, it is for you I will pray
For you see he is my soldier, so brave and so true
He fights for those who cannot… he fights for you

This is the role I have chosen to embrace
Because a life not knowing his love is one I cannot face
He is my soldier, so noble and proud
To stand by his side, this I have vowed

I knew what I was getting into from the start
Though time and the distance may keep us apart
He is my soldier, so courageous and strong
His is a love worth waiting for, no matter how long

To God I pray for his safe return
To be in his arms, for that I yearn
He is my soldier, so altruistic and bold
And to his love, I will forever hold
