Digital Madness

This is a brief poem on how I see the state of the internet

With blue green flashes of digital madness
The click of the keys a new world awakens
Caught in a world of chat rooms and sadness
Faceless masses join in endless prattle
As lovers and liars meet
Every man is a handsome hero and every woman a model
Leave your honesty at the door of this battle
The real need not apply
For tonight is for fantasy and innuendos
Fonts and emoticons flash on the screen
Instant messages equaling instant gratification
We leave would world behind for this digital ecstasy
The leer of the predator as they stalk their prey
Smiling as they lurk in the cyber playground
Only to be caught in the real world by vigilant eyes
Awaken from the matrix to see the world for what it is
Vibrant lights and fresh air
Move from your desk and feel the sun
We must all escape this digital madness
