a poem of long distance love

Across the miles and across the distance
My heart hears your call. My mind knows
It's wrong to feel this way, but my heart
Has joined yours. If only this were a different time
And place. It's a bittersweet love I feel
Knowing we cannot be together, but also
Feeling such a close connection even over the miles.

If only we could escape our current lives,
If only for a day or a few hours so that we could find pleasure
In each others arms.
I know in my heart that you belong to another and even
Wear her ring, but you have captured my heart just as
I have captured yours.
