Desperation

Ever feel like you need more?

Life has a way of keeping you down
It will let you surface only to let you drown
It leaves you to sink to the bottom
No matter how far you think you've gotten

Things might seem to be faultless
Only for one to be made worthless
You'll be left with nothing in the end
There will be nothing worthwhile to defend

Desperation will consume your life
Desperation for something besides strife
When you're left with nothing, you want it all
Again you're just setting yourself up to fall

Being up isn't having everything
To be up, you strive on personal gain
You don't look at what is needed to survive
Overlooking what you already have

You'll lose what you don't need repeatedly
Only to try and get it back desperately
You'll never be content with what you have
You rate your life's quality by what you crave
