Wounded

A very difficult piece for me to write. I put a lot of emotion into this!

Promises that are never
kept. Left broken spirited
and filled with regrets.

Superficial wounds are no
bother to me. The ones
that hurt are the ones
you can't see.

Joyful times are a thing
of the past. Left with
just memories, that are
fading too fast.

Cries for help fell on
deaf ears. You know what
I'm saying but pretend
you don't hear.

Saying you love me is now
just routine. Words from
your mouth that you no longer
mean.

Broken pieces and shattered
dreams. Have left me alone
with no self esteem.

Take your gloves off, for you
won this war. My body is weak
I can't take anymore.

Praying each night that you
won't be so blind. Asking
for courage to leave you
behind.

The answers don't come, I
fall to my knees. Silently
yelling "Oh God help me, please".
