This morning when I got to school
there was a new girl. She looked pretty cool.
I said "Hi."
but she said nothing back, I asked her why she only said, "Mommy said so."
I never told her my name, but when she walked by me she said, "Malory, hello"
I asked how she knew it and she said, "Mommy told me."
I asked "Is your mom the teacher" and she got confused gravely.
"No," she said
"Mommy's long dead"
