A drunken man in a bar |
He lay his head down at his spot His coat of beard, a dirty brown and signalled for another shot. The stranger, somewhere out of town. The barman said he’d had enough, It was time for him to leave. The doormen here were fair but tough and he’d not be hard to heave. The drunken man rose from his stool and tripped when on the ground He stared up feeling quite the fool Too drunk to make a sound. The stranger now was staggering He was making for the door He got the notion then to sing when collapsing on the floor. A cab was called: “Get of sight I have customers who’ve paid, to come and have a nice quiet night, instead, they've seen what you've displayed.” The stranger then left the bar and fell into the street He knew that he could not get far When his head hit cold concrete A cabbie came and picked him up And took him to a nurse Refusing him another sup He then began to curse They stitched him up and let him go and told him to lie down And asked him to let someone know He said,“My family's out of town” |
